A threat is a message with suspicious and/or dangerous content (link to an infected file, attachment containing a virus, etc.)
A SPAM message is a message that is unsolicited by the recipient AND sent in bulk. By definition, a message can be perceived as SPAM by one user and be legitimate by another.
Thanks to the multiple anti-spam analysis engines, each message has a score: this is the potentiality of a message to be SPAM. Depending on certain probability thresholds (potentiality), you can define an action:
tag (mark)quarantinedestroy
Beyond the tagging threshold, hosted email customers can define the folder in which the email will be delivered.
If you do not want to specify a tag, set the tagging and quarantine thresholds to the same level.
The filing folder specification is only relevant for the collaborative messaging service clients.
SPAMENTIOMETRE
Standard operation:
Between 0 and 100, the message is valid
Between 100 and 150, the message is tagged
Between 150 and 500, the message is quarantined
More than 500, the message is destroyed
At this
stage, the message is saved for 30 days and then processed according to the
settings specified by the administrator.
SPAM FILTER SETTING
Depending on your activity and using the Message Tracker, you can easily identify the score at which you want to quarantine SPAM messages, without creating too many false positives (normal message unduly blocked as SPAM) or too many false negatives (SPAM message that has not been blocked). In addition, you can use the White and Black Lists (e.g. to definitively ban newsletters to which you had previously voluntarily subscribed and which have 'sold' your email address to a third party) to fine-tune this setting. Again, the perception of SPAM is different from one company to another, so it is important to set the right level of filtering in the first few weeks of using the service.
