Preamble and definitions
In order to respond effectively to the problem of viruses and other unsolicited messages (SPAM), a high-performance system for filtering, securing and managing incoming and/or outgoing e-mails has been put in place.
The operation of this service is transparent for you, and does not require any intervention on your workstation. As a general rule (check with your IT Manager) :
- messages considered valid will be delivered as normal:
- Suspicious messages are marked [SPAM] :
- messages considered to be [SPAM.A] (unsolicited messages) are quarantined (they are not delivered to your mailbox):
- Messages that are totally inappropriate and dangerous are destroyed:
- Messages rejected by anti-spoofing checks are not quarantined
- Messages rejected by geographical reputation & domain are not quarantined
- Messages can also be held back by HUMail technology, a complementary protection mechanism (based on the Turing system) in addition to our anti-spam mechanisms. For more details on HUMail, you can consult the manual here
However, it is possible that a very small proportion of the messages actually sent to you may be wrongly quarantined. These messages are also known as "false positives". An individual quarantine system has been set up to allow you to list and retrieve messages blocked by mistake.
The purpose of this document is to show you the various operations you can carry out from your Security Report.
Quarantine
Zone in which messages that represent a threat (spam, virus, bombing, etc.) to the company's messaging system are stored. Messages are stored in the quarantine for 30 days.
False positives
Legitimate or valid message mistakenly considered as spam by the email filtering service.
White list
List containing all the addresses or Internet domains considered to be healthy and in compliance with the company's or user's security policy. Black List: List containing all the addresses that cannot or no longer write to you.
