Enable two-factor authentication (MFA) on My e-securemail
To strengthen the security of access to your My e-securemail space, you can enable two-factor authentication (also called MFA or 2FA). Once enabled, a one-time code generated by an app on your phone will be requested at each login, in addition to your password.
⚠️ Prerequisite: have a smartphone on hand to install an authentication app.
Step 1: Start activation
When you are logged in to your My e-securemail interface, a yellow banner appears at the top of the page inviting you to enable two-factor authentication.
Click this banner to start the setup.
Step 2: Install an authentication app
On your phone, install one of the following (free) apps if you don't already have one:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- FreeOTP
Step 3: Scan the QR code
A "Set up two-factor authentication" window is displayed with a QR code.
- Open the authentication app installed on your phone.
- Add an account by scanning the QR code displayed on screen.
- If you cannot scan the QR code (no camera, etc.), use the manual key displayed below the QR code and enter it in the app.
Step 4: Confirm activation
- The app generates a 6-digit code, refreshed every 30 seconds.
- Enter this code in the field provided on the My e-securemail page.
- Click Continue to confirm.
✅ Two-factor authentication is now enabled on your account.
Good to know
- From now on, each login to My e-securemail will ask you, in addition to your password, for the code shown in your authentication app.
- Keep your phone up to date and avoid uninstalling the app used: without it, you will no longer be able to generate a login code.
- If you lose or change your phone, contact your IT administrator to reset your two-factor authentication.
